If you are planning vacation in the Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge close to Muleshoe, Texas this summer, beware that the plague has been confirmed in the area.

According to YourBasin.com, the disease has been confirmed in two populations of prairie dogs in the park and for public safety, the road to Paul Lake has been closed to public access.

The disease can be spread to humans through bites from infected fleas that have been on infected prairie dogs.
