UPDATE (2/17): Tyga has responded to backlash regarding leaving Sir Paul high and dry outside his Grammys after-party on Twitter. “Why would I deny @PaulMcCartney stop it. He’s a legend 🙏 I don’t control the door. I had no knowledge SIR PAUL was there. I just performed and left,” he tweeted on Tuesday.

Yes, you read that title correctly. Last night Paul McCartney, Beck, and Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters were, indeed, denied entry to Tyga‘s after-party following the Grammys. Okay, wait—one more time so it really sinks in: 21-time Grammy winner Paul McCartney, of the Beatles, was denied entry to a post-Grammy party hosted by professional on-again, off-again Kylie Jenner boyfriend and zero-time Grammy winner (though, miraculously, one-time Grammy nominee) Tyga.

What’s more, there is actual video footage of the embarrassing and confusing fiasco, courtesy of TMZ.

The three men, each established music icons and Grammy Award-winners, were outside the Argyle in Hollywood last night where they were denied entry twice (twice!) from entering the Grammy after-party. Footage filmed by TMZ shows McCartney, Beck, and Hawkins congregating outside the backdoor to the venue, loud rap thumping from inside while a large bouncer guards the door and blocks the trio of music legends (as well as esteemed actor Woody Harrelson, it seems) from entering.

Hawkins and Beck laugh incredulously after they are denied entry to the event, with McCartney—a visible mix between bemused, bewildered, and aggravated after being told to “Get back!” by door security—laments humorously, “How VIP do we gotta get? We need another hit, guys! We need another hit. Work on it,” he adds, pointing to Beck.

How VIP do you gotta get to enter Tyga’s Grammy after-party? We’re not sure, though later TMZ caught up with Tyga as he was leaving the event. Upon hearing (or half-hearing, as it doesn’t seem like the rapper was paying much attention) about McCartney’s rejection from his party, he simply mumbled, “He’s a legend.”

Fellow party-goer Bow Wow, however, seemed more willing to chat about the party foul, asking with disbelief, “Wait, time out—the Paul McCartney came to the Argyle? And they wouldn’t let Paul McCartney in?” Though later he muses, “Maybe it’s the fact that we’re younger than Paul and it’s a new generation and we really club and we really go out. Like, we go to Argyle.” (UGH.)

Thankfully, the universe realigned shortly after the same evening when McCartney and Beck showed up to the Republic Records after-party to hang with Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Jeremy Renner, and Joe Jonas. Needless to say, they got in.
