After the awesomeness that is 'Drive,' we're psyched to see what happens when Ryan Gosling re-teams with his 'Drive' director Nicolas Winding Refn. That film is 'Only God Forgives,' and now there's a red band trailer that points out it's going to be violent.

Gosling stars with Kristen Scott Thomas (who appears to smoke throughout the entire film) and Vithaya Pansringarm in this story of a cop and criminal who decide to duke it out to settle their score.Gosling is a man of few words in this trailer, which reminds us of his mostly silent protagonist in 'Drive,' and the trailer is mostly impressionistic. And though it seems to reveal very little, we're sold.

'Only God Forgives doesn't have an America release date yet, but it is scheduled to open in France in May, which suggests that Refn wants to take the picture to the Cannes film festival. Refn won the best director prize there with 'Drive' so it seems very likely that this film will also get in that festival. 'Drive' had an arthouse/grindhouse sort of appeal, and it looks like this film has the same approach, so if it does well in festivals we'll likely get a late fall release stateside.

UPDATE: The Film Stage has gotten news of the release date. It's set to debut in America July 19. Here's that trailer:
