OneRepublic hit the 2014 BBMAs stage as the second performance of the night, following Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez, to perform their chart-topping single ‘Counting Stars.’

The band owned the stage like the true rock stars they are. Lead vocalist Ryan Tedder, appropriately clad in a leather jacket and armed with a tambourine, is one of those artists that sounds just as amazing live as on a recording.

The stage was decked out with flashing studio lights and black and white 3D renderings playing on the backdrop screens. Ryan ran around hyping up the crowd while simultaneously nailing the high range on the chorus. During the last verse, sparkling confetti fell from the ceiling across the audience, hitting the lights perfectly and looking like glittering stars across the darkness of the venue.

There were some famous OneRepublic fans in the crowd — both Jordin Sparks and John Legend were shown dancing and singing along to the Colorado natives. We feel ya, guys. It was a solid performance and worthy of the huge success of the song!

It’s not hard to see why the pop-rock band is up for the Top Duo/Group award, though they face fierce competition in One Direction, Imagine Dragons, Florida Georgia Line and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Good luck, OneRepublic!
