Gabe McDonald, the Odessa teen accused of killing his parents in March, will begin his competency trial this fall.

According to NewsWest 9, McDonald confessed to the crime but in May was interviewed extensively by an independent expert retained by his legal team who determined that the teen lacked the understanding of criminal proceedings which would not allow him to adequately participate in his own defense.

In short that means McDonald does not understand the difference between right and wrong.

A date has not been set but his legal team states it could happen as soon as December.
