The snowy owl is usually seen in arctic and snowy type climates, so its no wonder the bird that has made a visit to the Permian Basin is drawing a crowd.

According to NewsWest 9, the bird has been drawing crowds from as far away as Louisiana that have heard of the rare appearance.

The bird which is usually found in arctic and snowy climates, has been seen in the Odessa area near the Discount Tire on Hwy 191.

People from Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston and aforementioned Louisiana have made the trip to see the bird. The crowds were excited to see the rare visit from the arctic fowl.

Since it is not a native bird of the area, wildlife experts are hoping the owl will feed for a day or so and then head back to the north.
