If you thought you were the only one that had your rent go up last year, rest assured you were not the only one.

According to NewsWest 9, Midland and Odessa have the fastest growing rent overall in the nation in a report published by RENTCafe.

Odessa lead the way with a 38.9% increase in rent in 2017 and an average price of $1,200 a month in February.

Midland was not too far behind with a rent increase of 35.7% in 2017 and an average price of $1,360 a month in February.

The other rental markets showing increases in 2017 were more than half of Midland and Odessa with Lancaster, CA in third place with an increase of only 11.1% with Reno, NV at 10.3% and Fort Collins, CO at 9.9%.

The slowest rent increases nationwide was led by Lubbock at a -4.8% increase with Norman, OK, Baton Rouge, LA, College Station, TX, and Stamford, CT rounding out the top five slowest increases.
