Midland and Odessa posted lower declines in gas prices than any other metropolitan area in Texas.

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, the Permian Basin led the state with up to a 5 cent decrease to gas prices.

Midland averaged $2.44 and Odessa had an average of $2.38. Midland/Odessa still is the only metro areas in Texas above $2.00 a gallon.

The next highest price is in Austin at $1.94 while the state average is $1.93.

Average prices elsewhere in the state was El Paso at $1.80 which is the lowest price in the state followed by Lubbock at $1.86, Abilene and Amarillo at $1.88, and San Angelo at $1.90.

The national average for gas is $2.24.
