With the high cost of hotels in the area because of the oil boom, Midland comes in third place across the region in most income made from Airbnb.

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, the hospitality company Airbnb released the rankings of host income for 2018 in the Big Bend region of Texas and Midland County came in third place behind Brewster County and Presidio County.

The Big Bend Region, which includes Midland and Odessa, earned a combined $6.1 million and served about 43,000 guests.

Midland County hosts made $902,000 for 4,400 guests behind Brewster County at $2.5 Million for 23,000 guests and Presidio with $1.8 Million for 11,000 guests and just ahead of Ector County who made $664,000 for 2,600 guests.

Jeff Davis County rounded out the top five with $169,000 for 1,400 guests.
