New development and some new restaurants will be coming to the Midland Park Mall in the next couple of years.

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, Simon, the owner of the Midland mall, stated on Monday that a 'transformational redevelopment' of the mall to begin soon.

The mall will add two new restaurants on the outer parking areas, a new to the market large format retailer, and a new Dillard's.

Work is expected to begin within a month and will be finished by the summer of 2020.

“We are excited to redevelop the former Sears’s store with uses that will benefit the community and the existing retailers in these properties,” said Michael E. McCarty, COO of Simon Malls.

This announcement comes after Midland City Council approved a development agreement with the mall in which the mall will receive $7.5 million for improvements and reimburse the city with a percentage of the sales tax earned over a 12 year time frame until the $7.5 million is reimbursed.
