MMH has partnered with Mothers' Milk Bank of North Texas to become the place where mothers can donate breast milk.

According to NewsWest 9, the milk is collected from healthy mothers who are nursing but have a surplus of milk.

Mothers are screened in a manner similar to those who donate blood such as a brief phone interview, blood testing, and a medical questionnaire.

Donated milk would be stored and eventually transported to Ft. Worth where it will be tested, pasteurized, and distributed all over Texas and surrounding areas in need of breast milk.

NICU premature babies who cannot take formula are the most common recipients.

Mothers interested in donating can call 817-810-0071 or go to the Mothers' Milk Bank of North Texas website.
