Tuesday was a milestone day for Midland Habitat for humanity as they dedicated their 150th house built by local volunteers.

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, the house is located in the 800 block of Tilden Avenue for a family here from Myanmar.

The 150 homes have been built all in a span of less than 30 years since the organization was incorporated in 1991.

Midland Habitat for humanity has seen growth since 1991, in 2013 they assumed responsibility for the Odessa affiliate.

In the current economy, a Habitat home provides affordable housing for years and years to come and the organization points out that their concept is that the home is earned, not given.

Habitat for Humanity is also looking for the next executive director, if you are interested you can go the Nonprofit Management Center website.
