MFD held their annual pool safety training this week at Doug Russell Aquatic Center and urges residents to be aware of your kids at public pools and aquatic centers.

According to NewsWest 9, officials with MFD say the most common cause of accidental death of children under 5 is drowning.

The fire department officials also say that even though a pool or aquatic center has lifeguards, they cannot keep an eye on everyone all at the same time so be sure to keep an eye on your kids.

The best prevention of drowning is to teach your kids how to swim.
