The Home Run Derby at this year's MLB All Star festivities saw Midland born Max Muncy in the competition.

According to NewsWest 9, Los Angeles Dodgers and former Midland Rockhounds player Max Muncy competed in the Home Run Derby during this year's All-Star festivities.

Muncy was born in Midland in 1990 and later moved to Keller, TX where he went to high school.

He attended Baylor University and was drafted by the Oakland A's who moved him to their farm team the Rockhounds which brought him back to his birthplace of Midland from 2013-2014.

Muncy did not win the Home Run Derby but did advance to the second round where he came up short to the eventual champion of the Home Run Derby, Bryce Harper.
