Well, if you were wondering whether Netflix might pull forward on another round of Gilmore Girls, Amazon appears to have answered that question for them. Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino’s new Amazon series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, becomes the first pilot of the season with a series order, and a hefty one at that.

Amazon issued a rare two-season order for the new Rachel Brosnahan dramedy, though without any indication of how long those seasons might actually be. The series stars the House of Cards alum as a married woman who develops a talent for standup comedy, while you can read the full synopsis below:

It’s 1958 Manhattan and Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan, House of Cards) has everything she’s ever wanted—the perfect husband, two kids, and an elegant Upper West Side apartment perfect for hosting Yom Kippur dinner. But her perfect life suddenly takes an unexpected turn and Midge discovers a previously unknown talent—one that changes her life forever. She charts a course that takes her from her comfortable life on Riverside Drive, through the basket houses and nightclubs of Greenwich Village as she storms the world of stand-up comedy…a course that will ultimately lead her to a spot on Johnny Carson’s couch.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel also stars Michael Zegen (Boardwalk Empire) as Midge’s husband Joel Maisel, Alex Borstein (Family Guy) as Susie Myerson, Golden Globe winner and three-time Emmy Winner Tony Shalhoub (Monk) as Midge’s father Abe Weinberg, and Marin Hinkle (Two and a Half Men) as Midge’s mother Rose Weinberg.

Says Amazon:

In her onstage debut, Mrs. Maisel killed and had audiences responding overwhelmingly with digital applause. Like any great young stand-up, we’re excited to see what she has to say next and for a long time to come. That made it an easy decision to order two seasons from Amy and her incredible cast. We can’t wait to bring it to customers soon.

It remains to be seen if The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will make a 2017 premiere, but you can watch the entire pilot for yourself on Amazon, as well as the trailer below.
