"From birth, man carries the weight of gravity on his shoulders. He is bolted to earth. But man has only to sink beneath the surface and he is free. " -Jacques Yves Cousteau

The ocean is the final undiscovered frontier on earth, and this is one of many reasons why it is such an exciting place to explore. It is full of things we have never seen, creatures who live by a completely different set of rules than we do, and colors and textures that do not exist on land. The ocean makes us dream.

What better place to sleep then, than surrounded by it on all sides. Given the chance, I'd leave on the next submarine that would have me. In the absence of such offers, I'll take a night at the Maldives Rangali Islands resort -- they're not paying me to say this, I've never even talked to them; I'm just in love with the idea of spending a night under the ocean in a glass-domed aquarium.

Day to day, this room is the hotel's Ithaa restaurant, so even non-hotel guests can spend a meal below the sea, but the space is now available and can be converted into a honeymoon suite, upon request.

Whenever something doesn't have a price, I assume that I will never, ever be able to afford it. I'm assuming it's roughly 700x the cost of a regular villa room at the Rangali, which runs for $1950/night, so I did the math based on those estimations, and I project that you'd need a cool $1,365,000 to spend a night in the underwater suite. I'm starting a kickstarter tonight when I get home from work. So what, my dreams are different than my fancy, talented musician and artist friends? I just want to be Jacqueline Cousteau when I grow up.
