An ex-lover from the early years of Madonna's music career is ready to express himself in a forthcoming documentary about the former couple's romance.

Dan Gilroy, a New York musician who dated the Queen of Pop for 18 months beginning in 1979, will release a documentary containing "deeply personal letters and recordings made by the singer in bed," Page Six reports. Madonna was briefly in Gilroy's band, the Breakfast Club, in the early 1980s.

The film, called Emmy and the Breakfast Club, will focus on the years between 1979 and 1982—when Madonna was living in an abandoned synagogue in Queens with Gilroy — right before she became famous with her 1983 self-titled album, which included hits like "Lucky Star," "Borderline," "Everybody" and "Holiday."

Gilroy's documentary will reportedly reveal love notes and poems written by Madonna, as well as vintage photos, interviews, reenactments, audio tapes containing "bedroom talk" between the former lovers and private video recordings of the two in bed.

Specifically, director Guy Guido told Page Six that a "silly, romantic" 20-minute recording the couple made in bed will reveal Madonna and Gilroy "having fun with each other...and also getting into a little philosophical life discussion."

While the director revealed that the film, which he hopes to finish by 2017, will be released without the pop star's consent, he added that bringing Gilroy's material into the light of day has been a long time coming.

"There are some intimate things, but at this point they’re ready to share," Guido explained. "Especially Dan — he’s been holding this in a very long time."
