Midland Lee football players got a thank you e-mail from Lubbock Estacado Army JrROTC sent to MISD for their honor of the flag when they were in Lubbock to play a game two weeks ago.

According to NewsWest 9, here is an excerpt from the e-mail sent to MISD from Lubbock Estacado Army JrROTC: "Usually as soon as our National Anthem is over everyone begins to move about before our Honor Guard has a chance to march off the field; last week was different. As the National Anthem came to an end, we were standing behind your Lee Rebel football team, and we all heard a player yell out, "Nobody move." The entire team, including coaches and assistants, stood at attention as our Honor Guard marched off the field and did not move until they saw the Honor Guard lower the Colors on the other side.”

Coach Clint Hartman stated he has instilled this in his players and has had it in the program for several years.

Coach also said it was suggested by one of his previous trainers who fought in Iraq and he said he would teach the proper respect for the flag to all his players to not move and stay at attention until the Honor Guard has lowered the Colors.

MISD posted the letter online but Coach Hartman says while they appreciate the recognition, they are not doing it for a pat on the back.
