It’s Friday once more, PopCrush readers, which means we’re (web) surfing a big ol’ wave of brand new tunes! If you feel like you’re drowning in a sea of songs, desperate to know which tracks and videos deserve your attention, consider this your life preserver: Below, discover the five best songs #NewMusicFriday has to offer.

“Perfect Places,” Lorde
New Zealand's queen of the teenage wasteland offers up an atmospheric electro-pop anthem for the wasted youth on "Perfect Places." Featuring a zippy synthline and euphoric bass slaps, Lorde intoxicates with her special mixture of lighters-in-the-air catharsis and crying-at-the-party woe as she waxes lyrical about how our collective search for something bigger than ourselves falls short night after night. Then again, maybe the beauty is in the breakdown—those imperfections are gorgeously human, after all.

"The Only High," The Veronicas
The Veronicas strip back their signature electro pop-rock sheen on "The Only High," a soaring piano ballad which finds Lisa and Jess Origliasso's textured vocals entwined in melodic bliss. While the track may sound bittersweet—thank the sisters' raw, emotionally-charged delivery for that—it's actually a hopeful anthem for sobriety and its parallels to falling in love: "Back when we were young and drunk, love could never last forever / Then we sobered up, swear my heartbeats all the better."

“Sweet Lies,” Baek A Yeon
Baek A Yeon delivers a delightful dose of sticky-sweet bossa-inspired K-pop on "Sweet Lies," off her Bittersweet EP. Twinkly guitar flicks and light, jazzy production recall the wistful tunes of Astrud Gilberto, while the overarching '60s girl group melodies enchant without ever sounding too retro. It's precious and deliciously saccharine.

"O.D.D.," Hey Violet
Hey Violet provide an anthem for outcasts everywhere on the latest off their forthcoming album, From the Outside. A shift from the band's typical rollicking pop-rock, "O.D.D." is an earnest, hazy midtempo that captures the anxieties of youth and uncertainty, specifically the numbing feeling of being different than everyone else. Synth-ridden and rhythm-driven, this one's for fans of Lorde and Halsey.

"Never Thought," Danny Sunshine
Danny L. Harle (a.k.a. Danny Sunshine) delivers another heaping dollop of ooey-gooey sonic goodness on "Never Thought"—and PC Music's Month of Mayhem definitely saved one of their best for last. The track—a bright, bubbly, bouncy gloss-pop bop—fizzes like an ice cold can of soda on a hot summer day spent poolside. Refreshing!
