Local businesses are weighing in on the controversial import tax on things coming over from Mexico.

According to NewsWest 9, the 20% import tax, or "Trump Tax," will put a strain on local businesses especially restaurants, causing them to increase prices on a plate of food.

Other things that will increase in price that will be passed on to the consumer is the price of avocados, lettuce, squash and zucchini.

One restaurant owner says the majority of his ingredients are imported from Mexico which will cause the price of entrees to go up also.
