It's been four years since the 'X Factor' audition that changed Liam Payne's life.

In 2010, two years after competing (but ultimately being rejected) on the UK reality show in 2008, the future One Direction boybander wowed the judges for a second time with his rendition of Michael Buble's 'Cry Me a River.'

Liam belted the tune with a finesse and maturity well beyond his 16 years and brought the entire audience (including Simon Cowell and Natalie Imbruglia) to their feet to applaud the singer.

Of course, the judges gave Liam a resounding "yes," with Simon gushing over his protege.

"Based on talent, absolutely incredible," the notoriously harsh judge praised. "One massive, fat, almighty yes."

As Liam greeted his family backstage, he couldn't wipe away his grin.

"I never expected in my wildest dreams for that to happen," Liam says to the camera at the end of the video, enormous smile on his face. "To get that reaction -- it was just so amazing."

And look where he is now. Directioners, re-live Liam's 'X Factor' audition above!
