One of the world's most iconic toys is making a big addition to its line.

LEGO has announced it will begin featuring a figure in a wheelchair.

News of the disabled figure was posted on Promobricks, a LEGO blog.

The character will be part of the Fun at the Park set, which will go on sale this summer.

Toy Like Me, an organization that tries to lobby toy companies to accurately depict children with disabilities, applauded the move, as did several other people on social media. Toy Like Me even launched an online petition last year encouraging LEGO to represent the disabled.

The wheelchair LEGO is the second big development in the toy world this year. Last month, Mattel made waves by announcing it was unveiling a tall, curvy and petite Barbie doll to more accurately depict women.
