The Law Enforcement Torch Run passed through Odessa on its journey across Texas.

According to NewsWest 9, the run is the largest public awareness attention grabber for Special Olympics since 1985 here in Texas.

The torch run went through Odessa Tuesday Morning (May 22, 2018) featuring officers from across West Texas along with Special Olympics athletes.

They ran from 3rd and Golder to the Odessa Police Department with a brief celebration honoring the athletes and volunteers immediately afterward.

Following the celebration, officers from OPD led the runners as they carried the traditional "Flame of Hope" south on Grant Street to Murphy Street kicking off the West Texas leg of the torch run.

The Torch Run comes to an end on May 25, 2018 in Arlington for the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics Texas Summer Games.
