Lana Del Rey Shares Mournful Message Over Leonard Cohen’s Death
Lana Del Rey is in mourning over the loss of iconic musician Leonard Cohen.
On Instagram, the alt-pop star, who covered Cohen's 1974 song "Chelsea Hotel No. 2" in 2013, shared a message of sadness.
"I'd be lying if I said it didn't kind of break my heart that I never got to tell you how much you changed me," she wrote, referring to the late artist.
"Not that it would've mattered to ya, it's just that other than Bob [Dylan] and Joan ["Joni" Mitchell] you were the only person I ever really felt spoke my language. I love you as a real fan and I always looked for a little bit of you in all of my future friends. God bless," Lana concluded.
Cohen, an influential Canadian singer-songwriter and musician, emerged as one of the most celebrated music poets of the '60s and '70s. He passed away in his home at the age of 82 on November 10.
