Acting isn’t easy, especially when you’re forced to say all kinds of dialogue about made-up stuff like Ravagers and Celestials and living planets in some indie genre flick. Kurt Russell was one of the (many) highlights of this year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but even he had some trouble with everyone’s names.

Chris Pratt’s character Star Lord has a name so closely tied to another science fiction franchise that it made even seasoned professional actor Kurt Russell slip up multiple times. According to the Blu-ray extras, later confirmed by director James Gunn himself, Russell kept calling Pratt “Star Wars.”

In the Blu-ray extras, you can see a few of these mishaps for yourself firsthand. While recording a few lines for a scene, Russell (via Paste) slips up when he’s trying to name his son: “Well, even where I reside out past the edge of what’s known, we’ve heard tales about the man they call Star Wars.” Laughing, he turns to the crew and says, “We could be in trouble.”

And then he does it again: “We’ve heard tell of the man they call Star Wars. Ugh. Yes, Star Wars. He’s all of Star Wars. We’ve heard of the movie Star Wars.”

James Gunn confirmed it happened quite frequently on set.

I mean, sure, the phrase “Star Wars” has been permeating our culture for a lot longer than “Star Lord” has. At least he finally got it right in the actual movie, but his co-star Sylvester Stallone probably still can‘t say “Ravager.”
