Washington Park in Midland will be looking a bit greener very soon.

According to NewsWest 9, Keep Midland Beautiful along with Master Gardeners, Parsley Energy, and 4th graders from Washington Elementary are planting 25 trees in Washington Park beginning this week.

Keep Midland Beautiful Executive Director Amanda Byrom said this about the event: "It's just to make awareness in that community, engage them and get them to come help us keep it clean and beautiful. Planting trees is a great start. It's a permanent way to add beauty to the community and people love trees around here we don't always have so many."

The trees selected will not require much water so they will be able to grow without permanent irrigation.

Parsley Energy will be providing all the funds for supplies and irrigation.

If you would like to be a part of the tree planting, it will begin Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at Washington Park.
