Damn, girl: Justin Timberlake will, indeed, serve as the Super Bowl LII halftime show's official performer in 2018, drawing elation from longtime fans and ire from critics who maintain Timberlake hasn't done enough to apologize for his role in Janet Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction" during the 2004 show.

Timberlake, who will perform the show for a record third time, officially announced in a short Tonight Show clip last night (October 22) that he's, indeed, slated to take the stage. Rumors began circulating in September that Timberlake would serve as performer at the big dance alongside Jay Z, but details about the show are so far scant.

"You're doing the halftime show at the Super Bowl?" Jimmy Fallon asks incredulously in the clip above before he and Timberlake jump for joy around the studio.

Since Timberlake and Jackson performed at Super Bowl XXXVIII in Houston, many have criticized Timberlake for flying above the fray after ripping off a section of Jackson's top to conclude the concert. The moment resulted in the FCC implementing a five-second delay during live performances on TV, and Jackson was unofficially blackballed from industry events. Timberlake, all the while, never ostensibly faced the same degree of consequence, and hasn't apologized for his part in the incident in a way that has satisfied fans.

Super Bowl LII will air from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota on Sunday, February 4, 2018.
