It’s been months since we heard the Russo brothers were tackling Valiant’s Quantum and Woody, and they may have a familiar Community face to join them. Reports suggest Joel McHale is in talks for a leading role, joined by one of “several major names.”

The Wrap reports that McHale is in negotiations for Woody, described as “a wisecracking, womanizing slacker, who along with his straitlaced adoptive brother, is granted unpredictable superpowers from a pair of  energy control bands they find while investigating their father’s death.” The report also indicates “several major names” are circling the role of Woody’s African-American adopted brother, Eric (Quantum).

Anthony and Joe Russo will executive produce the new Valiant Entertainment series along with Mike Larocca and Valiant’s Dinesh Shamdasani, with Ant-Man and sequel writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari writing the pilot. For those not familiar with the property, Quantum and Woody was created by the writer/artist team of Christopher Priest and MD Bright in 2013. So reads a synopsis:

Once upon a time, Eric and Woody Henderson were inseparable. Adopted brothers. Best friends. Brilliant minds. Years later, they are estranged siblings, petty rivals, and washed-up failures. But when their father’s murder leads them into the throes of a life-altering accident, Eric and Woody will find themselves with a whole new purpose – and a perfectly legitimate reason to wear costumes and fight crime. Go big or go home, folks! Quantum and Woody are coming!

Quantum and Woody is one of several Russo TV projects in development, but would Joel McHale fit the material? (Yes. Yes he would.)
