Jodie Sweetin is doing remarkably well at this point in time. Fuller House is getting a second season, she’s engaged to her fiance Justin Hodak and she's killing it on Dancing With the Stars each week. But, most importantly, she’s been sober for five years now.

“We all have our demons,” she said in a cover story for US Weekly. “When we finally learn to let them go, we get to live and be free.”

Sweetie famously battled an addiction to alcohol and drugs, but this month marks five years of sobriety for the actress.

“I’ve got everything I could want,” she said. “I look back at things that have happened in the past, and I look at where I’m now, and it’s crazy. If anything, my life is a lesson to never give up.”

Sweetin's fiance, Justin Kodak, is also a recovering addict. She says his past experiences have been integral in his understanding her.

“He was 11 years sober in December,” she said. “We turn to each other for support. We both have our own lives and things we’re excited about, but we combine that, where we have this great relationship.”

She continued, “He’s so different and, really importantly, I’m different. I haven’t always had the best luck in relationships, and I’ve learned a lot of lessons. I want to be married. I don’t think there’s anything wrong admitting that it didn’t work before and trying again.”
