A barbershop on the south side of Midland that had been in operation for almost 70 years will soon be demolished.

According to NewsWest 9, the 'Nuff Said Barbershop on Lee and Industrial in Midland will soon be torn down because of disrepair and neglect.

It has been four years since the barber shop was in operation but the owner and city officials say it was a part of Midland's history.

According to city officials, Midland used to be a part of the "Chitlin Circuit" back in the 50's and 60's that brought many big named R&B artists to town like B.B. King and Ike & Tina Turner.

Many of those artists might have gotten their hair cut at the barber shop since it was in close proximity to the Savoy where those artists would perform.

Efforts were made to get the building marked as a historical landmark by the Texas Historical Commission, but the current owner, the nephew of the original owner, could not provide enough information to get the landmark status.

City officials say the building will be demolished sometime in the next 90 days.
