I used to love to go to the Drive In.  As a kid my Momma would take us kids out to the Drive In to see all of our favorites and even Mom's favorites cause she knew as kids we would fall asleep.  As a adult I followed in the tradition by taking my kids to the infamous Sky-Vue in Lamesa. The Sky-Vue opened in 1948 with a capacity for 583 cars and seating for 320 walk-in customers. It was a thriving business long after most drive-ins were gone.  I remember may elements of the Drive In one was the play ground for the kids.  We would get there early just so the kids could play on the playground before the movie.

The Sky-Vue Drive in offered a delicacy called the Chihuahua sandwich.  Fortunately, it did not contain any actual chihuahuas but it was delicious and of course all of your traditional movie favorites like Popcorn! The Sky-Vue Drive-In theater in Lamesa, which closed after a fire destroyed the concession building on November 27, 2015, they never rebuilt and I sure wish they would.
