Elizabeth Arden Sues Over Celebrity Fragrance Inspirations: Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift + More
Elizabeth Arden — the major cosmetics and fragrance company behind celebrity perfume lines featuring Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears and others — has named Preferred Fragrance in a lawsuit over trademark infringements, according to TMZ.
The lawsuit reportedly claims that Preferred Fragrance, which distributes cheaper fragrances with “Our impression of” messaging, released products with similar names and packaging as some of Elizabeth Arden’s brands.
For example: Elizabeth Arden is behind Justin Bieber’s perfume lines, ‘Someday’ and ‘Girlfriend.’ Preferred Fragrance has released two perfumes, ‘Today’ and ‘Be My Girl.’ Elizabeth Arden has distributed Taylor Swift’s ‘Wonderstruck’ perfume, while Preferred Fragrance has put out their own perfume titled ‘Wonderful.’
In the example below of Taylor Swift’s ‘Wonderstruck’ vs. ‘Wonderful’ (taken from their Amazon product pages) you can see that the packaging does look similar.

On Amazon, ‘Wonderstruck’ sells for $24.15 for a 3.4 oz bottle while a 3.3 oz bottle of ‘Wonderful’ sells for $11.89.
This isn’t the first time that Preferred Fragrance has been named in a lawsuit over trademark infringements: In Nov. 2013, Prada accused the company of infringing upon their Prada Candy line.
