The Ector County Sheriffs Office is getting into the 21st century by adding a drone to their crime solving team.

According to NewsWest 9, Officer Danial Linley got the idea of using drones for serious crimes after flying a drone during vacation.

The drones can see things from up to 300 feet in the air which is good in trying to locate suspects on the run.

Ector County Sheriffs office says the drone will only be used for active investigations and will not be used to spy on residents at any time.
