If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That seems to be the motto of the production team behind both John Wicks, as they’re bringing back their star, their director, and now their screenwriter for the third go-round. Derek Kolstad, who penned both John Wick and John Wick Chapter 2 is back on the team for John Wick 3.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wick 3 is being fast-tracked for a fall, production start, so Kolstad had better get his gears turning pretty quickly. It seems like, after Chapter 2, Chad Stahelski knows where he wants this series to go — he’s already been working on the screenplay for a few weeks, and he knows, above all, that he wants this movie to be “different” from the other two. In a recent interview, he spoke about how there were subtle little bits in Chapter 2 that he didn’t get to, or didn’t get enough of, which he’d like to go back and revisit.

We want to show you cool and intricate details. What are those little details in everyday life? Hopefully – we make people look at garbage collectors and cleaner vans and homeless people a little differently now.

At the very end of Chapter 2 [spoiler alert, obviously], Wick is banished from the network of assassin safehouses after he kills one of his own within the walls of the hotel. Literally everyone is out to get him, so Wick must go on the run to save his skin. The third installment is bound to be different from the first two, since this time, instead of going after a target himself, Wick is the one being hunted.
