While Universal has yet to make an official decision on the fate of 'Fast and Furious 7' in the wake of actor Paul Walker's tragic passing, 20th Century Fox has decided to move up its 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' into the same slot.

Originally scheduled to open on July 18, 2014, Fox announced that the 'Dawn' will now come on July 11, the date still tentatively held by 'Fast 7.' Universal recently put production on the seventh installment of their car-racing franchise on hold indefinitely, reportedly pending a meeting between director Justin Lin and the studio to decide their course of action. With the film already more than half-way done with filming, it was suggested the project would likely be scrapped to start anew.

'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' is the sequel to 2011's 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes.' Matt Reeves directs with stars Keri Russell, Jason Clarke and Gary Oldman making up the human cast. Andy Serkis also returns to the motion-capture role of Caesar, now a decade after the events of 'Rise' where the ape struggles to lead his species as a plague slowly wipes out the human majority.
