From the moment Joss Whedon was announced to direct 'The Avengers,' Marvel fans and Whedonites alike were abuzz with the possibility that some of the beloved Whedon-verse actors might find their way into Marvel's mightiest franchise. And while some past Whedon stars made it into minor roles in 'The Avengers,' with others rumored for future installments, what of the lovely Ms. Summer Glau? Might there be a place for her in Whedon's upcoming 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series?

Summer Glau fans, prepare for a potential fangasm. The beloved sci-fi action heroine has had a less-than-stellar tenure on television, between 'Firefly' and 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' unjust cancellations, but is she about to hit the motherlode? We know that casting is underway for ABC and Joss Whedon's forthcoming 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series, with Clark Gregg somehow back at the helm as Agent Phil Coulson, but what of the other characters?

IGN recently talked to Summer Glau, who expressed an active interest in the 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series, due in part to her previous role in Whedon series 'Angel,' 'Firefly' and even 'Dollhouse.'

I have my fingers crossed behind my back. I try not to say anything to Joss about anything he's doing because he has so many actors, and I know we all want to work for him. So I don't know, but if I could be a part of it in any way, of course, you know I want to.

Certainly, Glau could fill any one of the strong women outlined in the 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series character descriptions, but it remains to be seen if Glau can take an active involvement in the show. We're certainly pulling for her, in more ways than one.

Tell us who you want to see cast in the 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series in the comments!
