It was back in August that Showtime first suggested Stephen Colbert might dive into the ring for an Election Night special, and after a grueling few months, we’re finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. Officially confirmed for November 8 is a live Colbert Showtime production, asking a very appropriate question as its title.

Showtime officially confirms that November 8 at 11:00 P.M. will see the Late Show host again going live for Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going To Clean Up This Sh*t? The special will air live from the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York, featuring remote segments and surprise guests.

Says Colbert of the Jon Stewart-produced event:

It’ll be all the political comedy you love from my CBS show, with all the swearing and nudity you love from Showtime.

Showtime boss David Nevins previously teased the special would enable Colbert to be “unfettered” of any language constraints. Colbert’s Late Show has garnered extra attention in its live outings during the race, including its RNC and DNC post-shows, (as well the return of Jon Stewart), along with similar live shows after the debates.

November 8 is going to be one hell of a show unto itself, but will Colbert’s live show provide a welcome relief?
