With all the rain we have had over the past few weeks, city of Odessa officials remind residents to keep the weeds and grass maintained on their property.

According to NewsWest 9, not only does the overgrown weeds pose a fire hazard, they are also a perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes.

City of Odessa officials say that all residents must keep up maintenance from the curb to the back property line in the alley, including the backyard even if its fenced in, they will still peer over and make sure all areas are being maintained.

Officials also stress for property owners to make sure vacant properties are maintained as well. They state that vacant properties that are not maintained are an invitation for trespassers.
