Where has the year gone? It's already August but he summer fun isn't over yet, because there are still many events planned for this month.

The City of Midland will hold a public meeting in the evening to discuss a proposed ordinance that would ban texting and driving on August 3rd. You’re invited to come and voice your opinion at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center (2300 Butternut Lane) starting at 6PM before City Council holds its second and final vote on the ordinance later this month.

If you haven't yet made it out to Movies in the Park, it’s not too late! The City of Midland’s Parks and Recreation Division and Fox 24 have been holding movies in the park all summer long. The final two movies of the summer are 'How To Train Your Dragon 2' on August 7th and 'Alexander and the Terrible— Horrible—No Good, Very Bad Day' on August 24th. Both movies will start at dusk. The Midland Rockhounds are still in action at Security Bank Ballpark! The 2014 Texas League champs are currently sitting at the top of the Texas League South looking for their second straight title.
