Carrie Underwood is a familiar fixture on the red carpet best-dressed lists -- and the 2014 Billboard Music Awards were no exception!

The sweet singer looked radiant in a neon yellow and brocade gown. Yellow is a very tricky color to for blondes to pull off. Luckily, with the right shade and Carrie's golden tan, she managed to be both elegant and edgy.

The gown's gray brocade popped against the yellow hue, but also lent a sophistication that kept the neon tone from looking too overwhelming. Carrie's hair was teased back in a chic bun with a sassy pompadour, which matched the playfulness of the dress.
