Ariana Grande brought some old Hollywood-style glamour to the 2016 MTV Movie Awards, performing the title track to her forthcoming Dangerous Woman album accompanied by Broadway composer, lyricist and performer Jason Robert Brown. The singer was introduced by the modeling world's current it-girl BFFs Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid (who's hairstyle gave her a sudden resemblance to vintage Goldie Hawn). Ariana wore a luxurious white fur shawl — likely fake, given her notorious love for animals — and a pink strapless gown and glittery necklace that recreated the look from Marilyn Monroe's iconic "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" number from 1953's Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (also referenced, of course, in Madonna's "Material Girl" video and Rihanna's 2015 RiRi by Rihanna ad). Amid an evening that included a rap song about Leonardo having sex with The Revenant bear, Kevin Hart instructing viewers to tweet with the hashtag #DickinCake and Halsey singing in an indoor snowscape while dressed like an American Gladiator, Grande's classic choice made for an excellent counterbalance. Watch fan-taped video of the performance above, and see the whole thing over at MTV.
