In her TED Talk, she tells the story of how she began working after college as a living statue. Shows photos of herself as the 'eight-foot bride.' To earn money she would stand on a crate on a sidewalk painted white and hold out a flower for passersby.

Through this experience she learned that some people don't understand this way of life, but others appreciate the meaningful connection that can be made in just a moment.

She found that she made a predictable income, but later through music was able to give up the living statue gig to tour professionally. She utilized what she learned from her experience as a living statue to ask for help.
