‘10 Cloverfield Lane’ Trailer: Everyone Outside Is Dead
Bad Robot unveiled a new trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane during last night’s midseason premiere of The Walking Dead, and although producer J.J. Abrams has said that the film is more of a “blood relative” than an actual sequel, the marketing isn’t doing anything to particularly dispel the whole sequel notion. Between the Cloverfield branding, the viral marketing and the mysterious monster-like sounds at the end of the trailer, this movie appears to be more and more of a sequel than Abrams would have us believe.
Originally filmed under the title Valencia, director Dan Trachtenberg’s thriller centers on a woman (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) who is rescued from an accident by a man (John Goodman) and his bunker-mate (John Gallagher Jr.), and is told that everyone outside the bunker is dead. Soon it’s revealed that she’s being held captive, as the reality of what’s going on outside becomes increasingly uncertain.
It’s been rumored that Trachtenberg’s film wasn’t originally connected to Cloverfield at all, and that the monster element came into play later in production. Whatever the case, the concept is intriguing, it’s got a great cast, and we can’t wait to see just what the heck is going on in this movie when it hits theaters on March 11.
